thanksgivingMorning Praise

Morning Praise is a short, simple service held most months on the second Sunday of the month (not November). The service lasts about 35 minutes; it particularly has in mind parents who bring young children, and often includes, for families preparing for their child’s baptism, Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child.

Morning Praise has its own role for families giving thanks for new members. It could also be called a “taster” service. It gives a chance to experience, in a short space of time, many elements of Christian worship: singing praise, confessing sins, listening to the Bible being read and (briefly) talked about, declaring faith, praying for others, coming forward for blessing.

Because it is very short, parents generally find that it works even with even young children. There is a play area within the church equipped with not-too-noisy toys, which families sometimes find helpful.

Like many services in St Helen’s, Morning Praise is followed by refreshments and the chance for people to chat to each other.
